Simon Luethy

“…a creative depth that is unmatched…”

Weilheimer Tagblatt, Rafael Sala

Simon Luethy is regarded as one of the most versatile artists of his generation. A multiple prize-winner at national and international competitions, he performs regularly throughout Europe and the United States. In 2025 he received the Art Promotion Prize of the City of Augsburg – an award that underscores his continuous artistic development and strong presence on the concert stage. Critics attest to his “musical maturity and poise that are captivating and utterly exhilarating,” and praise his playing as “expressive and elegantly phrased, shaped with a dreamlike beauty.” Conductor Paweł Przytocki particularly highlights his natural musicality, deep insight, and brilliant violin technique.

Among the most important milestones of recent years are his debut at Carnegie Hall in New York and appearances at the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residenz, the Gasteig in Munich, the Berlin Philharmonie, and the National Concert Hall in Dublin. Simon Luethy attracted international attention at an early age: he won the Grand Prix and the Audience Prize at the international “Young Paganini” competition, and received further prizes at the international violin competitions “Andrea Postacchini,” “Music Islands,” and the “New York Artists Association.” In 2021 his debut CD “IMPRESSIONS” was released on the GENUIN label in collaboration with pianist Alexandra Troussova.

As a soloist, Simon Luethy has performed with orchestras such as the Südwestdeutsche Philharmonie, the State Symphony Orchestra St. Petersburg, the Filharmonia Sudecka, the Geringas Chamber Orchestra, the Augsburg Chamber Orchestra, and the Münchner Kammerphilharmonie Dacapo. In this context he has worked with conductors including Eckart Manke, Georgios Balatsinos, Paweł Przytocki, Bernd-Georg Mettke, David Geringas, Zakhar Bron, Franz Schottky, and Peter Bauer.

Chamber music forms a particular focus of his artistic life. Invitations to internationally renowned festivals regularly bring him together with artists such as Enrico Pace, Benedict Klöckner, Razvan Popovici, Kristóf Baráti, Kirill Troussov, István Várdai, Alexandra Troussova, Christoph Poppen, Marcelo Amaral, and the Apollon Musagète Quartet. His chamber music activities are guided and supported by mentors including the Quatuor Ébène, Dirk Mommertz (Fauré Quartet), and Silke Avenhaus.

Simon Luethy shapes the musical landscape not only on stage but also as a presenter and curator: in 2024 he founded the concert series „Elysium Concerts“, held at Schloss Nymphenburg in Munich. Here he pursues a dual mission: on the one hand, he offers outstanding young musicians a prominent platform; on the other, he seeks direct dialogue with the audience in a unique atmosphere. Each concert is presented in an exceptional format with a carefully conceived and dramaturgically engaging concept. Spoken introductions and pre-concert talks create space for questions and exchange – a forum emerges in which musical excellence, the promotion of young talent, and audience-centered communication naturally intertwine.

Since 2018, Simon Luethy has been passing on his experience as a violin teacher. His students have received multiple awards at national and international competitions; under his guidance, several have won numerous first prizes both in Germany and abroad.

His musical development began with studies under Margret Niklas and Jorge Sutil. In 2012 he continued his training with Kirill Troussov and spent four years as a pre-college student of Zakhar Bron. At the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, Simon Luethy completed his studies with Christoph Poppen and Lena Neudauer. He has also received important artistic inspiration from Veronika Eberle and Erik Schumann. In 2025 he further deepens his work through projects at the Kronberg Academy.

Since 2017, Simon Luethy has been playing a violin by Nicola Gagliano (Naples, 1765), which is made available to him on private loan.
